miles without an oil change?? Is this guy a nut? No, just another very satisfied AMSOIL user. Haywood Gray of Colonial Heights, VA, filled the crankcase of his 1990 Mack E7-400 engine with AMSOIL Synthetic Heavy-duty Diesel and Marine Oil with a little less than 200,000 on the odometer. 409,000 miles later, he still hadn't changed it. Haywood used an AMSOIL By-pass filter and had periodic analysis done on the oil. The analysis always came back indicating that it was perfectly suitable to continue using. A teardown of the engine was performed by an independent engine rater from Lubrizol, a Cleveland-based company that leads the industry in oil additives. The rater found only light wear throughout the engine that was consistent with any engine with 600,000 miles and what would have been TWENTY normal oil changes! He claimed the parts could have been reinstalled right back in the engine for continued use. Additionally, an oil analysis was performed to determine the amount of wear metals in the oil and compared to the limits specified by Mack for continued use of oil. Iron levels were about a third of the limit and lead was less than 1/7 of the Mack specs! Haywood's story is not unique. Many drivers and fleet mechanics have reduced downtime, maintenance and costs by using AMSOIL products to significantly lengthen their drain intervals. You, too, can realize the same benefits for your own car or truck using AMSOIL synthetic oils and filters. |
